Choreographic Games is an on-going artistic project that explores the intersection between Choreography and Nordic Live Action Role-Playing Games (Larp).

This project focuses on critically reflecting and implementing models of work based on the idea of “choreography without center”, which are dynamic choreographic structures that decenter singular perspectives and aesthetics. Larp is a type of immersive game in which participants act out embodied fictional scenarios. In Choreographic Games larp is used as a methodology to design decentralized choreographic structures that incite the co-existence and interaction of plural positions. This approach is informed by the Nordic style of larp, which focuses on collaborative and co-creative play.

For this process a dance artist was paired with a Larp designer in order to develop a new Larp. In total there were 3 pairs, each focusing on a different topic. Larp designer Nina Runa Essendrop and dance artist Alexandre Achour explore support in the fictional frame of a rehearsal and performance. Artists Saša Asentić and Steven Solbrig develop a larp based on body, care, accessibility and solidarity. Whereas, larp designer Nadja Lipsyc and dance artist Nicola van Straaten set up a situation where they invite players to explore their relationships to land, to cities and to desire through the idea of "sacrifice" or what needs to be given up or let go of.

Each Larp that was designed can be re-played and adjusted to new contexts and played by new participants and players.
