In the Embodied Percussive Choir, Sandhya and Alexandre translate the multiple layers of selected pop songs into vocal and choreographic arrangements. Bass lines, percussions, harmonies, lyrics, and electronic effects are transformed into an embodied practice that brings participants to sing and move collectively to the rhythms of the songs. Complementary and essential to our approach are collective improvisations that recreate electronic soundscapes and songs using voice, embodied rhythm, and various techniques for group improvisation.
